How to stop gaining weight? When does your weight increases? And for the obese people, how to lose weight? There is a very simple logic behind this! You start gaining weight when your input exceeds your output, meaning your caloric intake is much higher that what you expend. By having an intake = output, you can have a maintained weight, but for a natural weight loss you need to have your intake < output.

Putting on extra weight may be related to some metabolic disorders or an incorrect lifestyle. If these are corrected, you can definitely avoid weight gain, let us see a few natural way of weight loss:

Correcting Metabolic Disorders Associated with Weight Gain:

Hypothyroidism or an under active thyroid, one may put on extra weight. Thyroid gland controls the body's metabolism. A slow metabolism in can result in weight gain.

Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome or PCOS is another cause of weight gain or difficulty in losing weight in females. It is caused due to excess insulin and other hormonal imbalances in females in their reproductive years. Medication, lifestyle changes and some home remedies can stop this weight gain.

Heart, Kidney & Liver Diseases cause weight gain as all of them cause water retention in the body. This leads to swelling all over the body.

All the above disorders can be corrected by proper medication from a physician or an endocrinologist and weight gain can be effectively managed.

Correct Dietary Practices to avoid weight gain:

Eat small and frequent meals throughout the day. Such a diet for weight loss helps boost up the metabolic rate (rate at which your body burns calories).

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day as it breaks the night long fast. Do not skip this meal.

Keep meals lighter towards the end of the day or consume negative calorie foods.

Increase your water intake to about 3-4 liters/day. It may include thin soups, buttermilk, coconut water etc. Water helps accelerate the fat burning process.

Include whole grains, legumes, fruits, vegetables, skim milk products, lean meat, eggs, nuts, etc in your diet. Stay away from refined carbohydrates, bakery products, whole milk products, fatty meat cuts, fried, salty or sweet foods, preserved and canned foods. Also avoid excess caffeine and alcohol.

Try to eat something nutritious and healthy before attending a social party. Make sure you're stomach is half way done. This will keep you away from snacking on the high calorie party snacks. Also, when dining out, try to order baked, grilled or steamed dishes over fried and cheesy one's.

While watching TV or movie, it is a good idea to have un-buttered air popped corn or chopped fresh fruits instead of cheese burgers or french fries and doughnuts. You may also prefer a green tea, ice tea, hot chocolate or buttermilk instead of soft drinks.

Modified Physical Activities to Avoid Weight Gain:

If you are not pursuing any physical activity, take it up as your priority.

Select a suitable aerobic activity like brisk walk, jogging, running, swimming, aerobics etc. Accompany it with some muscle training exercises such as weights, crunches, squats, push ups, etc. This exercise for weight loss helps increase your metabolic rate as well as accelerate fat burning process in the body.

You may also engage in household activities of your choice such as cooking, gardening, dusting, anything you like.

Try to change your activity type at least every 4-6 months. Because when your body becomes used to a particular type of exercise, it stops responding. Altering 2-3 different activities after a certain time span can give you the best results and help burn maximum calories.

Maintaining a proper Biological Cycle to Avoid Weight Gain:

Follow a proper biological cycle. This includes maintaining proper eating, working and sleep timings. A sound 7-8 hours sleep daily can keep all the metabolic processes smooth. Insufficient sleep will result in altered biochemical reactions and may also cause you weight gain.
